Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT)
Optos Ultra-wide Imaging
Topography and Dry Eye Testing
DNEye Scanner

Ocular Coherence Tomogrpahy
OCT provides high-resolution, cross-sectional images of the retina and optic nerve
This enables early detection and monitoring of eye conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and other retinal conditions, revolutionising modern eyecare through detailed structural analysis.

Optos Ultra-widefield imaging captures up to 200° of the retina in a single image
This quick procedure enhances patient outcomes by identifying issues that traditional imaging may miss, enabling early detection of peripheral retinal conditions (such as tears and detachments) as well as other ocular and systemic diseases.

Corneal topography maps the cornea’s surface
Aiding in diagnosing corneal irregularities and planning treatments like contact lens fitting. For dry eye assessment, it evaluates tear film stability and corneal surface health. Combined, these tools enable accurate diagnosis, personalised treatment plans, and improved outcomes for patients with ocular surface disorders.

The Rodenstock DNEye Scanner measures thousands of data points within the eye
This unique biometric data powers Biometric Intelligent Glasses, offering customised lenses tailored to individual vision profiles. The result is sharper vision, improved contrast, and enhanced night vision, providing a truly personalised and precise visual experience for each wearer.

From a young age, I knew optometry was my calling. At just 14, I wrote to the University of New South Wales requesting a prospectus for their Optometry program, a time well before the internet. When the brochure arrived by mail, I was immediately captivated by the fascinating subjects and knew I wanted a future in healthcare, helping people through better vision.
I graduated from UNSW in 1992 with a Bachelor of Optometry (Honours), receiving the award for the top-performing final-year student. During my studies, I completed an externship in Boston, USA, which broadened my clinical perspective. After graduating, I gained valuable experience working in several busy regional practices across NSW before returning to UNSW as a staff optometrist and clinical educator at the School of Optometry.
In 1995, I relocated to Melbourne and began working with Dr Damien Smith, whose practice later became EyeQ Optometrists Burwood, where I was privileged to work alongside Shirley for over 20 fulfilling years.
I’m passionate about all aspects of optometry, with a special interest in children’s vision, behavioural optometry, vision therapy, and colour vision. I find it incredibly rewarding to help someone overcome visual challenges and reach their full potential.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my family and my two much-loved cavoodles, Remy and Maisie.

An encouraging conversation with my optometrist inspired me to pursue a career in optometry at Melbourne University. After graduating, I had the privilege of working alongside him for seven invaluable years. What I love most about optometry is the opportunity to build lasting relationships with patients and their families. This continuity of care allows me to tailor eye health solutions that truly align with each person’s lifestyle and needs. I offer full-scope, comprehensive eye care for patients of all ages, with special interests in complex contact lens fitting, myopia control, and dry eye management. I also enjoy integrating the latest technology into clinical practice, enhancing both diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes. Outside of work, you’ll find me playing in a brass band, swimming, hiking with my family, or enjoying a glass of wine with my book club.
